HP has announced it is set to axe over 1000 jobs in the UK due to business cutbacks. An estimated 27000 HP employees are expected to lose their jobs with the global giant next year. UK employees based both at Bracknell and Sheffield are likely to be affected by the job losses, and will be facing a worrying time at present. It is unclear what departments the job cuts will affect; an unstable time is faced by all at HP.
The business currently employs roughly 20,000 workers in the UK, but the new company restructure and a lack of product demand has resulted in inevitable job cuts. HP haven’t confirmed which (if not all) of their UK sites will be affected.
The company is restructuring in a bid to alter their future growth plans. The business will now focus on nurturing long term relationships with clients, particularly in the enterprise services. Despite the job cuts, HP has however revealed good profits thus far in 2013. HP employers in the UK face an unstable future with the company, as they wait to hear exactly where the job cuts will take place.
